DARE America Youth Advisory Representative for NC
First, I would like to say thank you for the recommendation of this high and prestigious honor. I am very pleased and excided to represent North Carolina on the D.A.R.E. Youth Advisory Board. I truly remember those D.A.R.E. lessons from when I was a student and understand the importance of their teachings in the lives of children.
I believe that I can be a benefit to the organization because I have never used alcohol or any other drugs and have my own personal standards to remain drug-free forever. Most people don’t realize that drugs have an increasing impact on modern society. I know the harmful effects of drugs and their interference in the lives of citizens. Drugs are slowly creeping into our lives and directing our youth in the wrong direction. Some of today’s youth think that drugs are an outlet for anger and other emotions, but they don’t understand the outcome of their decisions.
I strive to become a well-rounded person by participating in year-round activities. Some of these include volleyball in the fall, soccer in the spring, and FFA. I have also had many leadership positions in church and have helped organize multiple activities. I attend church every Sunday and also for an hour every morning before school with the other youth of our church.
It is my personal belief that everyone is given their own talents and that they need to develop and explore them. If we all spent our time using drugs, we would be cheating ourselves out of everything we worked so hard to achieve. This is the message I wish to share with anyone who chooses to listen.
Sincerely,
Kelsey Bryant
